SERMON SERIES

Week 1

“A New Name”

Simon was given a new identity by Jesus, offering him a fresh start. This name change wasn’t just a label, but a blueprint for a life, filled with purpose and grace. We are reminded that Christ offers each of us a new identity, no matter our imperfections, and that God has a plan for our lives.

Week 2

“Is He Quite Safe?”

In Luke 5:1-11, a miraculous catch of fish reveals to Peter his sinfulness and Jesus' divine authority. Instead of rejecting Peter, Jesus extends mercy and commissions him to become a "fisher of men," reminding us that following Christ requires courage, determination, and faith.

Week 3

“Faith is Voluntary Anticipation”

In this sermon, we explore Peter’s pivotal moment of walking on water in Matthew 14:22-33, where faith is tested through a storm. The sermon highlights that true faith is taking the first step before seeing the results, much like setting sails in preparation for the wind God will provide.

Week 4

“Offense or Defense?”

This sermon contrasts humanity and Jesus' divinity through Peter’s recognition of Jesus as the Messiah. It challenges Christians to shift from a defensive to an offensive stance in the battle against evil, embracing grace and truth while following God's will in difficult places.

Week 5

“Loyal Love and Quick Betrayal”

We explore the contrast between Peter’s loyal love for Jesus and his quick betrayal during the events of Matthew 26. Despite Peter's failure, Jesus demonstrates loyal love, offering grace and mercy, showing that even in our worst moments, His love remains steadfast and ready to welcome us back.

Week 6

“The Restoration of Peter”

Jesus restores Peter after his denial, showing that God is a God of restoration who mends brokenness and renews purpose. Despite Peter's failures, Jesus gently calls him back, offering forgiveness and a renewed mission, illustrating how God’s restoration brings new identity and hope to all who seek it.

Week 7

“Stairway to Heaven”

Pastor Joe explores Jacob's dream of a stairway to heaven in Genesis 28, representing the intersection of heaven and earth. Jesus fulfills this by becoming the meeting point of heaven and earth, inviting us to recognize His presence in our daily lives through His Spirit.

Week 8

“Peter’s Maturation”

Pastor Davis highlights Peter's spiritual growth from a flawed disciple to a mature leader, emphasizing that God desires His children to mature, not just remain the same. Like Kintsugi pottery, God refines and strengthens us through our flaws, preparing us to fulfill our unique purposes in His Kingdom.

THE LIFE OF PETER

This series delves into the life of Peter, one of Jesus’ most passionate, yet imperfect, disciples. Peter’s journey is marked by moments of bold faith followed by impulsive actions, doubt, and fear, making him the perfect example of how God uses flawed individuals to accomplish His perfect plan.

By exploring Peter’s transformation from Simon to Peter, this series inspires us to embrace our flaws, knowing that God can use us, just as we are, to further His kingdom and fulfill His purposes.
