SERMON SERIES
Week 1
“The Rescue”
In Luke 17:11-19, Jesus heals ten men, but only one returns in gratitude, leading to worship and salvation. True rescue is more than healing—it's responding with a thankful heart. Like Toy Story 2, we’re reminded that rescue is complete when it leads us to worship the One who saves.
Week 2
“Rising of the New”
Like Gandalf's transformation in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, believers in Christ die to their old selves and are raised to new life. Colossians 3 reminds us that our identity is rooted in Christ, not in feelings or failures. We are called to live from this new identity, reflecting Christ's character.
Week 3
“Our Freedom”
In John 8:31-47, Jesus challenges people to understand true spiritual freedom, found only in Him. Like Forrest Gump breaking free from his shackles, we are set free from sin when we follow Christ. True freedom isn’t necessarily about circumstances, but living in the truth of who Jesus is.
Week 4
“Waiting in a Cave”
In 1 Samuel 24, David faces a test of patience and trust as he waits on God's timing. Like George McFly confronting Biff in Back to the Future, moments of courage often come in waiting for the right time to act. This sermon explores how faithful waiting shapes our character and deepens our trust in God.
Week 5
“Father’s Love”
In Matthew 18:1-14, Jesus reveals the Father’s protective, personal, and relentless love for His children. Like Forrest risking everything to save Bubba, God pursues and cares for each of us deeply. This sermon reminds us of God's unwavering love and His desire that none of His children be lost.
Week 6
“Remember Your Family”
Jesus elevates the spiritual family above the blood family, redefining what it means to belong. Like the deep bond shown in Remember the Titans, our spiritual family is formed through faith and unity in Christ. This sermon challenges us to embrace and value our place in God’s greater family.
Summer at the Movies
July 2024
Summer at the Movies is back for its second year at Voyagers, blending the power of film with the truth of Scripture. Each week, we’ll explore a popular movie—Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Remember the Titans, Toy Story, and Lord of the Rings—and connect key scenes to biblical truths.
Through this series, we’ll discover how stories from culture can illuminate timeless truths about God’s character, our identity in Christ, and what it means to follow Him.
