summer on the mount

SERMON SERIES

Week 1

“Blessed Attitudes”

Pastor Davis begins our Summer sermon series by walking through the Beatitudes, where Jesus encouraged His followers that their hope, identity, and righteousness are found not in their circumstances or efforts, but in the saving grace of God that makes them blessed forever.

Week 2

“Salt and Light”

Jesus calls His followers to be “salt and light,” living distinct lives that preserve the truth of the gospel and reflect His character to the world. Pastor Joe shows us that because Christ has freed us from sin and darkness, we can shine His light so that others may glorify God.

Week 3

“The Heart of Sin”

Michael Parra teaches us that Jesus teaches that true righteousness addresses not only our actions, but also the contempt hidden in our hearts. Because Christ has reconciled us to God, we are called to pursue reconciliation with others as a reflection of His grace.

Week 4

“Love Your Enemies”

Pastor John teaches us that Jesus calls His followers to reject retaliation and trust God with justice, responding instead with kindness, generosity, and love. By loving and praying for even our enemies, we reflect the grace of Christ and the perfect character of our Heavenly Father.

Week 5

“The Show Musn’t Go On”

Pastor Davis shows us that Jesus warned against practicing our faith for the approval of others, calling His followers to reject hypocrisy and worship God with sincere hearts. When we seek God's approval above all else, we find the freedom and reward that come from authentic faith.

Week 6

“Theology of Things”

Jesus reminds us that what we treasure reveals where our hearts belong, calling us to pursue the lasting treasure of life with God rather than temporary possessions. He challenges us to examine our priorities and live with generosity and wholehearted devotion to Him.

Week 7

“Chin Up, Knees Down”

Pastor Joe teaches that Jesus reminds us that we don't have to be consumed by worry because our heavenly Father knows our needs and faithfully cares for us. As we seek God's kingdom first, we can trust Him with tomorrow and experience the peace that comes from resting in His care.

Week 8

“A Heart of Charity”

Jesus calls His followers to replace a critical, condemning heart with one shaped by grace, humbly examining themselves before judging others. As we remember God's mercy toward us in Christ, the Holy Spirit transforms us to see others with charity, wisdom, and hope.

Week 9

“Wisdom & Foolishness”

Jesus closes the Sermon on the Mount by calling us not just to hear His words, but to put them into practice, building our lives on the solid foundation of obedience to Him. When life's storms come, those who faithfully follow Jesus will stand firm as the Holy Spirit continues to transform them.
